Day 11

Henry had another good, uneventful day.  This was welcome after his IV stopped working last night, and the nurses had to restick him twice.  His milk intake increased to 50 mL today.  The doctors have agreed to be a little more aggressive with his milk intake in order to remove the IV permanently as soon as possible.  By his second 50 mL serving, Henry had adjusted to the increase.

We are still waiting for this gag reflex.  I heard him sneeze for the first time yesterday, and he had a couple more today.  The sneezes come in response to the feeding tube tickling the inside of his nose.  Since a sneeze is also a protective, brain-stem based reflex, and he wasn't sneezing before, I have decided to interpret this as a good sign that his primal reflexes are on the mend.

Hank is now sporting that quintessential baby garment, the onesie.  He is amazingly cute.
